Insight Millennium Thermal Scans for Pregnant Women, Infants & Small Children

How do you know if a pregnant woman, infant, or small child needs chiropractic care without taking spinal x-rays?When a pregnant woman, infant, or small child comes to see us, one of our main tools is the Insight Millennium Thermal Scan to determine possible areas of nerve disturbance. It's a great objective tool to help determine how healthy a patient’s spine is.The Thermal Scan is exactly what it sounds like: a heat scan. It is a gentle way to measure temperature, which is part of the autonomic nervous system.Thermal ScanCurious how it works? If your normal body temperature is 98.6 degrees, then the left and right sides of your spine should also be the same. Your skin is your body's largest organ. Did you know that the blood vessels under the skin work as the body’s thermostat? They expand to release heat and contract to retain heat, controlling the body’s temperature. When there is disturbance somewhere in the nervous system, the blood vessels are also disturbed and the thermostat malfunctions. This results in an imbalance in the temperature reading along the spine, which is measured with the Thermal Scan. Will it hurt?Never! It is a gentle, non-invasive test that does not emit any radiation. Why would a chiropractor administer this test? The purpose is to detect areas of the spine where nerves are not functioning correctly from spinal subluxations. One of the goals of chiropractic care for pregnant women, infants, and small children is to have a balanced Thermal Scan, which often happens after gentle adjustments are given to the spine. Why is it important to monitor the results?Through periodic progress exams, we can monitor how well the adjustments are helping you and make changes to your care plan, as necessary. It has been found that a very small amount of pressure can cause changes to the nervous system, whether or not symptoms are present. Monitoring the function of the nervous system is important part of achieving overall health and wellness.
