Chiropractic and Kids
Kids can receive chiropractic care, too!
Certified by the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association), Dr. Kelly practices gentle chiropractic techniques that are specific for helping infants and children. She has completed a comprehensive 200-hour, 48 credit certification program (“CACCP”) which has expanded her professional ability in adjusting techniques and evaluation of different stages of development. For more information, check out the ICPA’s website HERE.
As with adults, children need proper nervous system function for their bodies to work their best. Gentle, specific chiropractic adjustments focus on freeing pressure on vital nerves that control many of the body's functions.
Did you know that an infant's spine will double in size in their first 2 years?
At Summit, we believe that kids of all ages should have their spines checked for vertebral subluxations. A body that has a strong working nervous system can make a huge difference in a child's health as they grow and develop.

Infants
Why chiropractic?
The birth process can often be very traumatic for infants, setting the stage for future issues if not addressed. With such rapid development happening, this is the best time to ensure your infant's spine and nervous system are functioning in the best possible way.
Physical milestones
Rolling, sitting, crawling, cruising, standing, walking.
Chiropractic may help:
Colic, reflux, eczema and rashes, ear infections, poor sleep, constipation, torticollis, asymmetric crawling and gait.
Toddlers
Why chiropractic?
Toddlers are very busy! Their first slow steps quickly change to walking, running, and jumping, with a steep learning curve. The introduction of new foods, over-stimulation from the environment, and the development of new motor patterns can all affect a toddler's physical development. Toddlers under regular chiropractic care often are healthier, get sick less, need to take less drugs, and are less susceptible to ear infections.
Physical milestones
Walking, running, jumping, climbing, kicking.
Chiropractic may help:
Ear infections, asthma, cold and flu's, allergies, eczema, irritability, diarrhea and constipation, delayed milestones, difficulty sleeping.
Preschoolers
Why Chiropractic?
Your preschooler is potentially being introduced to many new stressors such as processed foods, extended TV or computer time, medications, and environmental chemicals.
Physical milestones
Balancing, climbing, jumping, bicycling, skating.
Chiropractic may help:
Allergies, asthma, bed wetting, difficulty sleeping, diarrhea and constipation, colds and flu's.
School Aged Children
Why chiropractic?
New physical stressors may include sitting at school, new sports and activities being introduced, and extended computer time. They also may start to feel stress from schoolwork and peer pressure, which can both have an effect on the nervous system.
Physical milestones
Gaining independence, constant learning, specific biomechanics related to sports.
Chiropractic may help:
Growing pains, headaches, belly aches, constipation and diarrhea, recurring respiratory infections, asthma, allergies, lack of balance and coordination, frequent colds, ADD/ADHD, difficulty sleeping and concentrating.
Teenagers
Why chiropractic?
One very common biomechanical issue with teens today is the postural changes that occur from prolonged computer, cell phone, and video game use. Teens also may be experiencing emotional stress from peer pressure, new relationships, schoolwork, and learning more independent adult skills, that can all place stress on the nervous system.
Physical milestones
Independence, high level sports, driving.
Chiropractic may help:
Headaches, poor concentration, fatigue, irritability, muscle aches, slow recovery, lack of balance and coordination, painful or irregular menstruation, scoliosis.
